Scene light

A scene begins with physical light rather than pixels. Sources emit spectral radiance; geometry and media determine where it travels; surfaces absorb, reflect, scatter, or emit it; and the viewpoint selects the rays that can enter an imaging system.

Light travels from a source, interacts with a surface, and reaches an imaging viewpointA light source illuminates two points on an object. Reflected rays travel from those points through a viewpoint aperture and cross onto an image plane, illustrating the boundary between scene lighting and projection.LIGHT SOURCEINCIDENT LIGHTSURFACEVIEW / PROJECTION01020304
